Bo Yan majors in Material Processing Engineering and always engages in CAE and multi-scale simulation in polymer processing such as plastic injection molding (PIM) and resin transfer molding (RTM). Bo obtained PhD from School of Materials Science and Engineering of Huazhong University of Science & Technology in 2008. Then Bo joined School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He served as a lecturer from 2008 to 2012 and was promoted to an Associate Professor since 2013. During 2010-2011, He went to Department of Mechanical Engineering, IUPUI, USA for one year and conducted research on the molding and simulation of lithium ion battery safety issues.

As principal researcher, Dr. Yan is mainly in charge of two projects about the microcellular plastic injection molding. The two projects include one NSFC (Numerical Simulation on Morphology and Product Properties of Microcellular Plastic Injection Molding) and one New Teachers' Fund for Doctor Stations, Ministry of Education (Three dimensional numerical simulation of bubble morphology evolution in microcellular injection molding) respectively.
