On December 16-18, 2022, the 2022 International Conference on Robotic Welding, Intelligence and Automation (RWIA' 2022) & the 14th Chinese Conference on Robotic Welding (CCRW' 2022) hosted by the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society Welding Branch, jointly hosted by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Lanzhou University of Technology and Jiangsu University of Science and Technology was held in Shanghai, Lanzhou, Zhenjiang, Harbin, Lanzhou, Zhenjiang, Harbin and Suzhou, Guangzhou. Affected by the epidemic, the conference had both online and offline venues (five sessions), with more than 400 domestic and international delegates attending.

The conference was co-chaired by Professor T J TRAN of the University of Washington and Professor Wu Lin, former Vice President of the International Society and former Chairman of the China Welding Society. Researcher Feng Zhi of Oak Ridge National Laboratory was the Chairman of the International Academic Committee; Professor Wang Tianmiao, Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education, Changjiang Scholar, recipient of the National Outstanding Youth Fund and Professor of Beihang University was the Chairman of the Technical Steering Committee. Professor Chen Shanben of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Professor Zhang Yuming of the University of Kentucky, former director of the Robotics and Automation Special Committee of the China Welding Branch and a Changjiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, with Professor Zhang Yuming of the University of Kentucky co-chaired the conference.

The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Professor Fan Ding of the Lanzhou University of Technology, the executive chairman of the conference, the rotating chairman of China Robotics and Automation Professional Committee, president of the Gansu Welding Society. Professor Wu Lin, Professor Wang Tianmiao, Professor Chen Shanben, and other experts attended the online and offline meetings and delivered the speech for the conference. Professor Wang Min of Shanghai Jiao Tong University delivered a speech, commissioned by Professor Li Zhuguo, Vice President of the School of Materials Science and Engineering. International Welding Institute Chairman Arc welding process and production system chairman, Professor Satoru Asai, Osaka University, Japan, Professor Ihor Skachkov, Zhejiang E.O. Barton Institute of Welding, Professor Zhou Wei, Nanyang Technological University, Professor Pan Zengxi, Wollongong University, Australia, Professor Li Yongbing of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, National Outstanding Youth Fund recipient, and many other well-known scholars to participate in this meeting.

This conference includes four keynote reports, 21 guest reports, and 51 recommendation reports, such as In-situ Detection of Weld Quality Using Laser Ultrasonics toward Intelligent Manufacturing, Application of artificial neural networks for monitoring the technological process of contact spot welding.
