On the afternoon of August 30, 2023, Professor Sheng Dai, Dean of the School of Chemical and Process Engineering of the University of Leeds, visited the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Sun Lizhen, Secretary of the Party Committee, and Hang Tao, Assistant Dean, communicated with each other on talent cultivation and research cooperation in the conference room of the Xu Zuyao Building on the Minhang Campus.
Sun Lizhen expressed a warm welcome to Sheng Dai's visit. She said that since the two universities signed an inter-university framework agreement in 2016, we have achieved a lot of cooperative research results in talent cultivation and academic exchange seed grants, and looked forward to expanding talent cultivation and scientific research cooperation between the two universities in the field of materials science and engineering.
Sheng Dai responded enthusiastically, saying that the School of Chemical and Process Engineering at the University of Leeds attaches great importance to cooperation and exchanges with Chinese universities, and hopes to explore the establishment of a multi-level and diversified joint cultivation of innovative talents cooperation program with the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University to further promote international cooperation between the two sides.
During the meeting, Sheng Dai and Hang Tao introduced the basic profiles of the School of Chemical and Process Engineering of the University of Leeds and the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, respectively. The two sides communicated and exchanged views on the implementation plan of the undergraduate and postgraduate training programs of materials science and engineering majors of the two universities, and initially agreed to set up a joint training program for undergraduate and postgraduate students, covering the mutual recognition of credits, dual degrees, and student exchanges.
