On the morning of July 1, 2024, the 9th Zhi-Hong International Summer School of Advanced Materials, hosted by the School of Materials Science and Engineering (SMSE) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), was inaugurated in thYiucheng Lecture Hall, Xu Zuyao Building. The theme of this year's summer school is "Future Materials". Prof. Tao Deng (Dean of the Graduate School of SJTU), Prof. Qing Dai (Dean of the SMSE), Prof. Tianquan Lin (Vice Dean of SMSE), Prof. Peng Zhang (Assistant Dean of SMSE), Prof. Sergey V. Ushakov and Prof. Chunchao Chen (lecturer representative), Xundan Xue (International Office of the Graduate School), and other relevant faculty members of the working group attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Chen Shen, with 39 participants from nine countries, Russia, Serbia, Brazil, Australia, Kazakhstan, Japan, Singapore, Pakistan, and China.

He first expressed a warm welcome to all the students and guests attending the Summer School, then briefly introduced the history and background of the Zhi-Hong Summer School. Since its establishment in 2016, the Zhi-Hong Summer School has provided a platform for renowned scholars and students to engage in academic and cultural activities, fostering enriching and memorable experiences. The 9th Zhi-Hong Summer School has invited renowned scholars from Arizona State University, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne, University of Michigan, Kyoto University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University to give academic lectures. It also organizes interactive activities to provide a platform for exchange, friendship, and self-expression. Finally, he expressed heartfelt thanks to all the staff and volunteers and sincerely wished success for the Summer School.
