From January 27 to 30, a delegation from the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University visited Singapore to advance collaboration with leading research institutions in Singapore. During the visit, the delegation signed cooperation agreements with affiliated institutes of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), laying a solid foundation for the School’s broader engagement and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
During the visit to Agency for Science, Technology and Research, the delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Accelerate to Market Centre for Future Energy. The signing ceremony was witnessed by Xiaoqin Zeng, Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Zisen He, Vice President of Agency for Science, Technology and Research. The MoU was signed by Lizhen Sun, Party Secretary of the School of Materials Science and Engineering, and Junyong Wu, Director of the Accelerate to Market Centre for Future Energy.

According to the agreement, the two sides will jointly carry out research and talent cultivation in advanced materials technologies for extreme environments. By leveraging their respective strengths in materials science and engineering, advanced manufacturing, and future energy, the partnership aims to accelerate technological innovation and promote the translation of research outcomes.
The delegation also visited relevant schools and departments at National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. The two sides held productive discussions on expanding dual-degree programs, deepening research collaboration, and jointly applying for research projects, reaching a number of shared understandings.


During the visit, the delegation also met with overseas alumni, faculty members, and students for a roundtable discussion. Lizhen Sun, Party Secretary of the School, and Xiaodan Shen, Deputy Party Secretary, introduced the School’s latest developments and talent policies, and exchanged views with alumni on their work and life abroad. They also expressed their support for jointly trained students, showing keen interest in their academic progress, research activities, and future career plans.On behalf of the School, Lizhen Sun extended sincere greetings to alumni, faculty, and students studying and working overseas. She encouraged them to make full use of international platforms to further strengthen their professional capabilities, while also serving as ambassadors for the School in promoting exchanges and cooperation with the academic and industrial communities in Southeast Asia.
