Introduction

Prof. Xiaoqin Zeng is a Distinguished Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and a recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation of China for Distinguished Young Scholars and its renewal grant. He is currently Vice President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Deputy Director of the National Engineering Research Center of Light Alloy Net Forming, and Director of the Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Magnesium Materials and Applications. He also holds several concurrent positions, including Member of the Chinese Materials Research Society, Executive Council Member of the Chinese Society for Nonferrous Metals, Member of the 8th Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education, and Framework Cooperation Professor in Light Metals with Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd.

His main research focuses on Materials Genome Engineering and the design and processing of advanced magnesium alloys. He has led over 70 research projects, including NSFC Programs. His work has contributed to the development of design theories and technical systems for flame-retardant magnesium alloys, rare-earth magnesium alloys, and stainless magnesium alloys.

To date, he has published 387 SCI-indexed papers in journals such as Progress in Materials Science, Nature Communications, Acta Materialia, International Journal of Plasticity, and Corrosion Science. His publications have been cited 11,379 times, with an H-index of 57. He has authored two monographs and holds more than 90 authorized invention patents.

His research group maintains extensive collaborations with leading domestic enterprises such as Huawei, BYD, OPPO, Lenovo, Honor, ZTE, FAW Group, CATL, and Geely Auto. The outcomes of his research have been applied in fields including new energy vehicles, electronic communications, and aerospace.

His awards include the 2020 National Technology Invention Award (First Class), the 2003 National Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Class), the 2024 Shanghai Natural Science Award (First Class), the 2019/2023 China Nonferrous Metals Industry Technology Invention Award (First Class), and the 2009 Ministry of Education Technology Invention Award (Second Class). He also received the 2011 Helmholtz Association Magnesium Research Award (Germany) and the 2021 Person of the Year Award from International Magnesium Society.
