Biography

Dr. Kolan Madhav Reddy is currently a Tenured Associate Professor at the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), China. He joined SJTU, as a full-time faculty in 2017. Since then, he has been involved in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Also, he has been actively conducting research on understanding the behavior of advanced materials at atomic scale, with an emphasis on defense-, space- and sustainable energy applications. He has authored and co-authored more than 100 International peer-reviewed papers (with citations of >2600 and h-index: 30). He has also edited a book on ‘Boron Carbide: Structure, Processing, Properties and Applications’ published by Nova publishers (USA). He is a recipient of Dr. R. L. Thakur Memorial Award (Young Scientist) honored by Indian Ceramic Society in 2017. His teaching course ‘Fundamentals of Materials Science’ was published on a platform Coursera (U. S. based open online course provider) in 2021.

Dr. Reddy received PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Tohoku University, Japan (2013). He obtained his undergraduate (B. Tech) and postgraduate (M. Tech) degrees, in Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering from Mahatma Institute of Technology (MGIT), Hyderabad and Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT), India in 2007 and 2010, respectively. In between he had worked as a Junior Research Fellow at International Advanced Research Centre for Powder Metallurgy and New Materials (ARCI) Hyderabad, India (2007-2008). He did his postdoctoral fellowship at Johns Hopkins University, USA (2014-2016).
