Introduction

Dr. Li has obtained main research achievements in basic studies and industry applications of sheet metal forming field as follows:

1. Sheet metal forming deformation mechanism of new materials and its mechanical model. More widely used yield criterion and ductile fracture criterion are proposed. They are published in International Journal of Plasticity and European Journal of Mechanics A /Solids, which are most downloaded ones. By comprehensive simulation analysis based on proposed mechanical models, the yield of rocket metal diaphragm is improved by five times in Shanghai Aerospace Equipments Manufacturer Co., Ltd. The thermomechanical treatment process of 2219 aluminum alloy is optimized to solve the low strength problem of tanks in Institute of Aerospace Special Material and Technology. The hot forming temperature of Invar 36 alloy is reduced from 800℃ based on experience to 600℃ in Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Co., Ltd. The developed surface partition software is applied in Invar 36 alloy mould of C919 aircraft.

2. Electrically-assisted forming (EAF) technology for difficult-to-deform sheet. Based on different process tests and quantitative analysis, it is believed that the electroplastic effect mainly results from Joule heating one. The previous international opinion that pure electroplastic effect plays a key role is clarified. The electrically-assisted incremental section forming technology is firstly proposed. Different electrically-assisted forming processes are developed. Large titanium alloy parts are fast and efficiently manufactured by EAF technique.

3. Hydrogenated superplastic forming/diffusion bonding (SPF/DB) process. SPF/DB temperature of titanium alloy by hydrogen addition is reduced by about 100℃. The difficult problem of DB parameter mismatching for different alloy sheets is solved. Through precise design of SPF die and DB process optimization, the testing specimens of titanium alloy fan blade are supplied for AECC Commercial Aircraft Engine Co., Ltd. The trailing edge and tip protection of titanium alloy for first Chinese composite fan blade is produced by SPF technique. Furthermore, the leading edge protection of titanium alloy is manufactured by the combined process of DB and cutting. The method about the hydrogenated sheets with lower DB temperature is proposed to obtain high DB quality in different materials.
