The Joint Research Center for Additive Manufacturing aims to break through the key technologies of additive manufacturing material development and form application-oriented core processes of additive manufacturing, which is a key initiative for the construction of the discipline of additive manufacturing in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. Additive manufacturing will change the way of production organization in the manufacturing industry, which in turn affects the global manufacturing landscape. Both the United States and the European Union have promoted additive manufacturing as a national strategy. Additive manufacturing has been listed as a key field in the Outline of the National Program for Medium and Long-term Scientific and Technological Development (2006-2020) and Made in China 2025, and the national key R&D program of Additive Manufacturing and Laser Manufacturing has been launched. Guided by the major national needs, we will follow the development trend of material processing and manufacturing, further improving the overall level of additive manufacturing at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
